At the commencement of President Obama’s first term in 2009, he tried to shut down the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program. A highly successful charter school program, with a 91% high school graduation rate. Our first African-American president wanted to send the D.C. Opportunity students, of which 95% are black, back to failing public schools. John Boehner deserves credit for winning at least one congressional battle against President Obama. He held firm on preserving the D.C. voucher program.

The striking down of North Carolina’s 2013 voting law by the U.S. Court of Appeals’ 4th Circuit, and the Supreme Court’s refusal to reinstate the law, was very disappointing. The court found the law to be discriminating against black Americans. In my opinion, the court’s ruling, at the urging of the Democratic Party, was discriminatory and demeaning!
Mr. Kaepernick is a coward, but not for sitting down during the national anthem. Not because he disrespected millions of black veterans like Revolutionary War hero Crispus Attucks, whose soil-mixed blood undergirded America’s foundation.
