Mormons, where is the evidence?

Christian Hate Speech Pt. 1

My favorite Mormon Missionary question!

Mormonism Truth or Consequences Pt. 4

(11) We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our conscience, and allow all men the same privilege let them worship hew, where, or what they may.
Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of god, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth. BOM 1Nephi Ch.14 v. 10
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Articles of Faith state that all men should worship as their conscience dictates, but the Book of Mormon claims that others churches are abominable and whorish. So, what do they really think?
(12) We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law.
I will take the Government of the United States, and the laws of Missouri and Illinois, from the year 1833 to 1845, and if they had been carried out according to their letter and spirit, they would have strung up the murderers and mobocrats who illegally and unrighteously killed, plundered, harassed, and expelled us. I will tell you how much I love those characters. If they had any respect to their own welfare, they would come forth and say, whether Joseph Smith was a Prophet or not, “We shed his blood, and now let us atone for it;” and they would be willing to have their heads chopped off, that their blood might run upon the ground, and the smoke of it rise before the Lord as an incense for their sins. I love them that much. But if the Lord wishes them to live and foam out their sins before all men and women, it is all right, I care not where they go, or what they do. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 2, p. 186
Brigham Young’s avocation of voluntary decapitation of government officials doesn’t appear to be an example of honoring authorities as stated in Article 12 or Titus 3:1-2.
Remind the people to be subjct to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. Titus 3:1-2 (NIV)

(13) We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul “we believe all things we hope all things,” we have endured many things and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report, or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”
I do know that there are sins committed, of such a nature that if the people did understand the doctrine of salvation, they would tremble because of their situation. And furthermore, I know that there are transgressors, who, if they knew themselves, and the only condition upon which they can obtain forgiveness, would beg of their brethren to shed their blood, that the smoke thereof might ascend to God as an offering to appease the wrath that is kindled against them, and that the law might have its course. I will say further; I have had men come to me and offer their lives to atone for their sins. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 4, p. 54
The Articles of Faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints reveals their true identify and whom they truly serve. Mormons use the name of Jesus, but they do not serve Him. The blood of Christ wasn’t enough for salvation according to Brigham Young. What is required is the blood of the Mormons themselves! This surely isn’t Christianity, because the blood of Jesus Christ offers salvation to the whole world!
When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. Heb 9:11-12 (NIV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

Mormonism Truth or Consequences Pt. 3 Articles of Faith (6-10)

(6) We believe in the same organization that existed in the primitive Church, viz: Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists, &c.
(7) We believe in the gifts of tongues, prophesy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, &c.

Counterfeits are only dangerous when they cannot be identified. The Bible provides numerous warning against them. If we know Scripture, we will know the counterfeits.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matt 24:24 (KJV)

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Cor 11:13-15 (KJV)

(8) We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

“Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 327).

Apostle Orson Pratt. He claimed, “… who in his right mind could for one moment suppose the Bible in its present form to be a perfect guide? Who knows that even one verse of the Bible has escaped pollution, so as to convey the same sense now that it did in the original?” (Divine Authenticity of the Book of Mormon, pg. 47.)

If the Bible wasn’t translated correctly, why didn’t Joseph Smith correct it? If we are to believe Joseph Smith, we must deny the Scriptures below.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Tim 3:16 (KJV)

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Pet 1:23 (KJV)

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Pet 1:21 (KJV)

(9) We believe all that God has revealed, all that he does now reveal, and we believe that he will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

“I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that god was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. These are incomprehensible ideas to some, but they are simple. It is the first principle of the gospel to know for certainty the character of god and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that he was once a man like us, yea, that God himself the father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did; and I will show it from the Bible.” Joseph Smith, History Of The Church, Volume 6 p.6305

The God of the Bible is not a man. God created man. This is not Christianity!

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Num 23:19 (KJV)

I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city. Hosea 11:9 (KJV)

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 (KJV)

(10) We believe in the literal gathering of Israel, and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes. That Zion will be built upon this (American) continent. That Christ will reign personally upon the earth, and that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiac glory.

“Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased. Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation. For verily this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the glory of the Lord, which shall fill the house.” Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 1 p. 288

Did Joseph Smith’s prophecy come true? Was a temple built in New Jerusalem Missouri before the generation of Joseph Smith died? Is there a New Jerusalem Missouri? What does the Bible say about false prophecies?

If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. Deut 18:22 (NIV)

It appears after the examination of the first 10 Articles of Faith, that Mormonism has no relationship with Christianity. If one is to believe the Bible, Mormonism must be an abomination

Mormonism Truth or Consequences Pt. 2 Examining the Mormon Articles of Faith (1-5)

(1)“We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
I have always declared God to be a distinct personage, Jesus Christ a separate and distinct personage from God the Father, and that the Holy Ghost was a distinct personage and a Spirit: and these three constitute three distinct personages and three Gods. If this is in accordance with the New Testament, lo and behold! we have three Gods anyhow, and they are plural; and who can contradict it? Joseph Smith – History of the Church Volume 6, Ch. 12, p. 274
Christian view of God
The Bible states that there is only one God. The Bible calls the Father God. The Bible calls the Son God. The Bible calls the Holy Spirit God. Since the Bible states there is only one God; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are the One God.
Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: (KJV)
Isa 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. (KJV)
(2) We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
And they would have had no children; wherefore, they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery: doing no good, for they knew no sin. But, behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of Him who knoweth all things. Adam fell, that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy BOM 2 Nephi 2:23-25 1835 ed.
Christian view – Adam’s sin was a curse
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (KJV)
(3) We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
“One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation” (12th Prophet Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness, p.206; also cited in The Book of Mormon Student Manual, religion 121 and 122, 1996, p.36).
Christian view of Salvation
John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV)
Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV)
(4) We believe that these ordinance are: 1st, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ: 2d, Repentance: 3d, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins: 4th, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Sounds like Christianity, but is it?

The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer, son of the morning. Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind. Milton R. Hunter, Gospel Through The Ages p. 15
(5) We believe that a man must be called of God by “prophesy, and by laying on of hands” by these who are in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
But who in this generation have authority to baptize? None but those who have received authority in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints: all other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God; and any person who receives Baptism or the Lord’s supper from their hands will highly offend God, for he looks upon them as the most corrupt of all people. Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the “whore of Babylon” whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. And any person who shall be so wicked as to receive a holy ordinance of the gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent of the unholy and impious act. Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 255
Christian authority comes from Christ!
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (KJV)
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
